A History Rich in Tradition and Community
Sisters Kitchen Food Co. isn’t just a food business — it’s the heart of a dream Cathalin Leija has carried for years. A dream rooted in her childhood, her family, and her heritage.
Growing up as a first-generation Mexican and Salvadoran American, Cathalin watched her mother and her Tias in the kitchen— chopping, stirring, sharing stories and the gospel. All while teaching lessons that went far beyond recipes. These women cooked with purpose: to nourish, to connect, to build community. Their kitchens weren't just a place to make food. They were a gathering place for family, laughter, wisdom, and love.
Years later, Cathalin found herself at a crossroads. She left a successful career to raise her children, recalibrate, and ask: What was her next mission? With unwavering support from her husband, she stepped into her purpose. Her children — her first and most honest taste-testers provided loving feedback as they help label Cathalin's three signature salsas
From there, Sisters Kitchen Food Co. was born. The name itself is a tribute to her mother, the most efficient and talented cook she’s ever known, and to all the women in our family — sisters, aunts, and cousins — who gathered in the kitchen, shared their stories, and made everyone feel at home.
Sisters Kitchen Food Co. offers authentic Mexican salsas, handmade tortillas, and house-fried tortilla chips. But it’s more than just food — it’s tradition in a jar, it’s comfort on a plate, and it’s a way to bring people together in the kitchen just as how she grew up.
Giving back to the community is central to our company’s mission. Cathalin’s own experiences — growing up in a low-income household and navigating life through natural disasters — shaped her conviction that community matters. That’s why, even in our first year, we prioritized our social impact by donating to anti–human trafficking organizations, supporting flood relief in Kerr County, launching our first annual backpack giveaway for families in need and donating food to centers like The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, yet it doesn’t stop there. For Cathalin and Sisters Kitchen Food Co., success isn’t only measured in sales — it’s measured in service.
As we grow, our guiding principle remains the same: serve with a “servant’s heart.” We are deeply grateful for every customer who shares our food. Your support — whether by word of mouth or at local markets — means the world. You’re not just buying salsa or tortillas; you’re supporting a legacy, a family, and a vision.
Welcome to our kitchen, and Thank You for being a part of our story.
